FAQs

DO YOU CHARGE FOR CONSULTATIONS?

The initial visit with a designer or maintenance representative is free of charge and typically lasts 15 – 30 minutes. During this visit we’ll ask a lot of questions to determine what your goals are for your lawn and landscape. From there we’ll determine the best way to move forward. Our service proposals are free and typically sent out within a few days of meeting. If your project calls for a customized landscape design we will layout the process for creating one. We do charge a fee for our designs; the cost is based on the size and scope of the project.

CAN MY LANDSCAPE PROJECT BE PHASED?

Absolutely. Your landscape designer will work with you and your budget to determine the best way to phase your project. Our landscape designs can often be implemented over multiple years.

WHEN WILL MY PROJECT GET SCHEDULED?

After we receive a signed contract and down payment, your project will be put in the queue. We will send you a “What to Expect” letter with a checklist of items that we take care prior to arriving, and things you can do to get ready. Approximately one week before your project is set to begin, we will call or email to notify you that you’re next on our schedule, and set a start date. Please remember that weather could affect when we begin.

WHO WILL BE WORKING ON MY PROJECT?

You can expect to see a crew consisting of one to three people, depending on the scope of the work to be done. This crew will usually remain consistent for the duration of the project. Each crew has a foreman or crew leader who can answer most questions, should they arise.

WHAT ABOUT CHANGES TO THE INITIAL CONTRACT?

If, as work progresses you decide you would like additional work and/or a change to what was originally on the contract, a ‘Change Order’ will be drafted to detail the changes and estimate the cost. This form will be signed by you and the designer or the foreman before we make any alterations.

WILL I BE ABLE TO USE MY YARD DURING CONSTRUCTION?

Our crews are very careful about cleaning up the work site when they’re done for the day, and make every effort to make the area as presentable as possible considering the conditions. We do recommend you avoid the site until the work is completed to ensure your safety.

WHERE WILL MY PLANTS COME FROM?

Our on-site licensed nursery is fully stocked to provide plants for most for our projects. Our nursery custom grows a wide variety of native plants and non-invasive perennials, ground covers, vines, small trees and shrubs. We also purchase annuals, edibles and larger balled and burlapped trees and shrubs from some of Wisconsin’s most innovative and reputable growers. Our plants are grown using organic methods with minimal enhancements so that they adapt well to a variety of soil conditions.

DO YOU GUARANTEE YOUR PLANTS?

We provide a one year warranty on all woody plants installed by us.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE WORK IS COMPLETED?

When the crew has finished and clean-up is completed, you will have an opportunity to inspect the work with your foreman or designer if you desire. Your designer or salesperson will review the final invoice to make corrections or adjustments based on any ‘Change Orders’. The final payment/balance is due as specified on the invoice.

WHAT ABOUT MAINTENANCE AND UPKEEP AFTER THE PROJECT IS DONE?

We will provide you with an appropriate information sheet on maintenance and care of lawns, nursery stock, and hardscaping, as well as plant watering guidelines. If you don’t have the time or inclination to take care of your new landscape, we’d be happy to talk to you about our wide variety of maintenance programs.
